LIFE Ministries will be at the Urbana Student Missions Convention, December 27-31. We will be represented by 20 staff and alumni. It is our job to ask Urbana delegates, "Have you met this unreached people group -- Japanese youth?" The fact is that the 19,000 Urbana delegates, most of whom are college students, are uniquely qualified to reach this lost generation of Japanese. Young people of Japan have largely turned away from traditional values and deeply-entrenched Japanese religion. The truth is that Japanese youth are not too unlike North American youth. Teenagers and college students in America and Canada have friends and classmates who are similar to a typical Japanese young person. Many have likened Japan's cultural climate to America in the 1960's. Social upheaval, distrust of the government and the breakdown of values are all prevalent in Japan today. Added to that is an increase in suicide among young people and a looming economic crisis. Affluence has led to emptiness. Moral relativism has broken down traditional values and faith. The result is hopelessness and despair. Sound familiar? One-hundred and twenty-seven million Japanese need the hope and peace that Christ offers. The problem is that they don't know about Jesus. But you can tell them. Japanese people are looking for answers. Japan is hungry for Christ's love. Will you help? In 2001, Japanese churches are asking LIFE for 50% more summer teams to help them reach their communities. Pastors are requesting church planting interns to help multiply their congregations. Find out how you can get involved.
