Asian Access is building on 40 years in Japan as LIFE Ministries and is now expanding into several other Asian countries. In Japan, we've sent over 3,000 short and long-term missionaries which have assisted Japanese churches in doing the work of evangelism and church planting. Go to Top The purpose of EnVision is to provide an opportunity for people interested in ministry in Japan or church planting to experience Japan, get to know the culture, observe missionaries and Japanese congregations and pray about whether or not God is calling them back longer term (one year and beyond). Who can come on EnVision? Individuals, couples, families, gatekeepers, groups? Individuals & couples: EnVision is for individuals and couples interested in longer-term ministry (one year and beyond) in Japan or church planting. Families/Parents: Parents of families are welcome, but the tour is not designed to accommodate young children. Gatekeepers: Those who are influential as a Sender for cross-cultural missions will find the tour offers a strategic ministry perspective. Individual gatekeepers will be considered on a case by case basis. Go to Top Application, Group Size & Deadline Questions What is the application procedure? The first step in applying is filling out the Next Steps Survey to indicate your interest. We will call within a week to answer any questions you may have and send you an application, if it is appropriate at that time. Second, s. Go to Top What is the deadline for applying? Send in your application at least three months prior to when you would want to depart for Japan. When will I know if I am accepted? Asian Access will inform you whether or not you have been accepted one month after we receive your application. How many people will be going on EnVision? EnVision is highly customized, based upon when you can go and when a missionary in Japan can coordinate your trip. Go to Top Preparation Questions Do I need to get a visa to go to Japan on EnVision? No, you won't need a visa since you'll be in Japan less than three months. Your passport will serve as a tourist visa for up to 90 days. This applies to U.S. and Canadian citizens. Obviously, Japanese citizens would use their Japanese passports to enter the country, and would need to show a valid visa to return to the U.S. or Canada. If you are not a citizen of one of these three countries, please notify the U.S. office as soon as possible to get more information. Go to Top What sort of language and culture preparation should be done before I go? As much preparation as participants want to do is great! Since you will not be doing ministry, you do not need training but will be provided with written materials on important cultural and spiritual preparation. If you want to check out Asian Access' website, there's some good cultural information as well as links to other sites providing good resources for language, kids/teens, web cameras, newspapers, and Christian tools. Go to Top Travel Schedule Questions What day will I actually leave for the trip? Where will I fly from? You will leave from your home airport for Japan on the official start date of the trip. You will arrive in Japan the next day (due to crossing the international date line). Go to Top When will I meet the missionary coordinating my trip? You will fly directly from your home to Japan. There you will be met by an Asian Access missionary, who is coordinating the logistics of your trip. Go to Top What day will I leave Japan for home? You will leave Japan on the official end date of your trip, and actually arrive back home on that same day. (It's a long day.) Go to Top Financial Questions Can I raise support or do I have to pay out of my own pocket? What is the cost of the trip? You may raise support or pay out of your own pocket.
