Japan is not easily defined. With Kabuki theater and Shinto shrines competing with bustling Tokyo and speeding bullet trains, one might think that Japan is simply a clash between the old and the new. But Japan is much more than that -- this country of wonderful, caring people has managed to create a culture where the old and the new constantly work together. From the stereotypes: Japanese businesspersons and farmers working in the rice fields, Japan's people are continually re-defining themselves in response to influences both old and new.

The following links will get you started on a journey to discover the many pieces that fit together to define Japanese culture.
