Words of wisdom...

I heard a sermon once that said “how will you know you are called to go unless you have seen and touched the faces of those very people? How will you know unless you’ve sat with them, talked with them, walked with them, and laughed with them?” I can’t agree more! You’ll know if you’ve been called once you’ve lived among them, even if it’s a short period of time! Check out our EnVision Tour for more details!

Why are you serving with Asian Access?

Asian Access purposefully partners up with the Japanese church to multiply churches. It’s a hands-on, in the trenches, work united with the nationals themselves! Not only that, but I’ve never imagined an organization so committed to both the mission of evangelism, and the missionaries in their mission. It truly is a family. I cannot imagine serving in any other mission.

When you're in Japan, be sure to...

Sit and enjoy the rice fields! I believe they are one of them most beautiful parts of Japan besides the people! I could sit and enjoy the green rice fields all day long.

Hoping for "ultimate contributions"...

My greatest desire is for others to "imitate me as I imitate Christ". As I serve Him, my greatest desire is to watch God fulfill His promises in the people He allows me to minister to. I find that one of my greatest joys in life is to observe how God transforms lives. It brings me to tears when I see that God has used to me to be a part of the growing process in the lives of others.

Meaningful ministry memories...

A few months after I arrived to Japan for my three year term, a summer team from Texas came into town to serve at the church. Thinking I was the great pro missionary that I am, I showed them to the local convenience store. There, I shout out loud “hey would you guys like coke or seaweed chips”. I didn’t think anything of it until two years later when I was at the daughter church teaching English. A woman who was invited to my class came in and said to me “You look familiar! Have I met you before?” I study her face and reply “No, I’m sorry. I don’t think so”. Stumped, she sits down. After class and during tea time, the woman suddenly says “I know where I’ve met you before! Two years ago in the mother church city (40 minutes away from the daughter church site) at the convenience store you were there with a bunch of Americans and you asked them if they would like a coke or seaweed chips!” I was so embarrassed and so shocked that I made such an impression! But God used that as well, as she’s been coming to my class and other church activities! God can use even silly stories like that to draw people unto Himself! Amazing!

Lessons I've learned...

God is a big God! We can trust Him to do His work in Japan and all over the world! I’ve learned that He’s asking for willing hearts to submit to Him. God, being the big and loving God that He is, really does take care of the rest! We serve an amazing God!

God's Blessings on my Life and Ministry...

God has shown me through the Japanese people how gracious God is. Though the Japanese church family, I’ve learned more about how beautiful community is, and truly how much grace God has for His children! I can not express how much I’ve seen through the work here that it is God who brings the increase. He has both blessed my personal life and ministry life in innumerable ways!

Hopes for the future...

My hope is to come back to Japan and be a part of this movement! I cannot imagine doing anything else!
